Regional Council Plans

If you need to revalidate your pilot chemical rating this year you will need to get up to date with the Regional Council Plan that applies to the area where you work. Check out the links above to get a summary of your local plan.

Regional Council plans and Agrichemical use

The discharge of agrichemicals is controlled by rules that appear in Regional Council resource management plans. Usually these rules appear in Air Quality plans but sometimes they are hard to find and sometimes the rules appear in water quality plans instead of air plans. Also, the rules vary depending on which region you are in, and some plans have specific rules for aerial application of agrichemicals.

You can find the rules for aerial application that apply for your region by checking the summaries presented here. The summary is in three main parts:

• A table that summarises where you would find rules for agrichemical use for that region and what definitions it has.
• Definitions used in the plan.
• A table with two columns eg from the summary for Taranaki Regional Council:

The Column headed Rule 44 - Permitted activity conditions is a list of all the conditions that could apply in a plan for agrichemical use as a permitted activity - in this case in Rule 44 in the Taranaki plan.

Where there is a blank under the "What the local Plan requires - include references to the part of the rule" column in the table it means there are no conditions or requirements in the plan for that - eg in the Taranaki Regional plan there are no requirements for qualification or training, storage or mixing sites.

In some cases the summary may refer you back to the plan for details.
